FINDING THE NEED - The volunteering experience at Paranga opened me to a lot of things - education curriculums, gender disparities in education, and types of learning/teaching, but most importantly it helped me see a need for an inclusive education. The way I saw it, education was being imparted in the school only in classrooms via books. Schools like Paranga that run on charity support can often concentrate only on a few facets of education. With the little funding, they've done a lot - set up eco-friendly classrooms, mid-day meals, free books, and a library. However, the one thing this school couldn't capitalize on was its vast open spaces - the fields and the grounds. Lack of sports equipment and education was one need that a lot of students felt. A bit of research showed me that bringing sports to the school could be a great way to start the wheel of inclusive education here. So that's the need I began with.
