What's a Pitara?

Good Question!

A pitara is a basket, a box, or a chest that was primarily used to carry clothes or store household or other daily objects in India.

But what does our little pitara hold you may wonder!

 

Well think of it as a pandora's box, except this Pitara only has the best stuff in it!

 

It holds thousands and thousands of stories, all waiting to be unlocked!

Who is Pitara For?

ANYONE AND EVERYONE - Pitara eliminates the need for the written or readable language and uses only visual cues and the power of narration to engage a user in story-making and telling - hence can be used across ages and works as an inclusive tool for people with learning disabilities.

Pitara can be played in a number of settings including - home, school, offices, and at cafes or parties and can be used both as an entertainment and an educational tool!

Why Play Pitara?

Well, why not?

If you love stories, you’ll love this game. But if you don’t, this game has the potential to make you fall in love with not just listening to stories, but also making your own!

Pitara is not just fun, but also a great educational game - whether you're trying to teach someone how to make/write stories or simply improve their visual language - Pitara has the potential to morph itself into a useful tool for many!

PITARA IS PROUD TO BE AN INCLUSIVE GAME

Pitara has been designed using the principles of inclusive game design and thus can be played by/with people who have disabilities/difficulties like dyslexia, ADHD, hearing & speaking impairment, autism among others.

Pitara is a visual & verbal storytelling board (un)game that uses universal yet abstract visual icons to enable imagination and the storymaking process.

Pitara is ideated and designed by Jaishree Garg, an alumni of Srishti school of Art, Design & Technology

She is a boardgame lover and a design and communication specialist & visual storyteller by profession.
